Kristin Hernandez,

Trainee

Supervised by Susan Harrison, LMFT #93612

Hello! My name is Kristin and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges with greater understanding, connection, and resilience. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in marriage/couples and family therapy at Alliant University. I am completing my practicum at Horizon Counseling Center under the supervision of Susan Harrison, LMFT. My clinical approach is grounded in recognizing the impact of family dynamics and history, relationship patterns, and life experiences on emotional well-being and interpersonal functioning.

I work with clients experiencing relationship difficulties, communication challenges, family conflict, loss and grief, and the effects of trauma. Because I have had first-hand experience of being a client myself, I know the courage it takes to come into the therapy room. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore meaningful change at a pace that is appropriate for them. By helping clients identify underlying patterns, strengthen communication skills, and build healthier connections, I support them in developing more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.

I believe healing occurs within the context of safe and authentic relationships and am committed to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that honors each client's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. Thank you for considering me in your therapeutic journey and I look forward to collaborating with you.
