Hello and welcome! My name is Ashley Magaña, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee supervised by Jalena Rusaw LMFT, CA #109002. I am also a current graduate student at Alliant International University in Sacramento.
Starting therapy is not always easy, but it is a great first step towards beginning your journey of healing. My hope is that you feel respected, seen, heard, safe, understood and valued in a non-judgmental space. My interests include helping those struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, attachment issues, and life transitions.
There is a practice in Japan that resonates deeply with me; the art of repairing broken pottery, called kintsugi. When a dish or cup breaks, the brokenness is repaired with gold, and it is considered to be more beautiful and stronger than it was before. Highlighting these perceived flaws reveals the beauty in every imperfection and crack. Each and every one of us has a story, unique strengths and gifts, and maybe some hidden scars.
I admire your courage and consideration of starting therapy. I am here to give you support, to listen, and provide you with skills and tools that will empower you on your journey of healing. These tools can be the gold that helps you strengthen your mental and emotional wellness. This is your time and space to explore your thoughts and emotions, and we can work together to reach your goals. Every day is full of new opportunities, and each session is a step towards progress. I hope we have the opportunity to work together on your journey.
