How do I find out if I have insurance benefits that will cover counseling?

Call the number on your insurance card for mental health/behavioral health/substance abuse benefits. They will be able to tell you if your plan covers these benefits. They will also be able to tell you if I am an approved provider for your plan.
What information do I need to obtain from my insurance company before my first session?
  1. Is pre-authorization required? If it is, have them pre-authorize the sessions
  2. What is your authorization number?
  3. How many sessions have been authorized? or How many sessions do I get each year?
  4. What is your copay?
  5. Do you have a deductable?
  6. If you have a deductable, how much of it has been met for this year?
